Pepperminty July

Hey Oil Friends,

I just got back from a journey to the Midwest. We had a great time, saw lots of family/friends and I’m excited to start having some summer oil parties and sharing my oils again. So if you book or host a party in July you’ll get a free bottle of Lemon Oil. Mmm.

Then onto the oil for the month. This month’s oil is Peppermint, yum. I was just in the humid Midwest – it was almost 100 degrees every single day I was there, phew. So I thought the hot months would be a great time for us to focus on a cooler oil. Peppermint can be used in so many different ways. I love to diffuse this oil when my kids have stuffy noses. In our hotel Simon woke up with a stuffy nose early one morning so I put a few drops of Peppermint on his pillow and shirt because I didn’t have my diffuser. If I would’ve been at home I would have just diffused some Peppermint right in his bedroom, in fact that’s what I did a lot with both of my kids during the winter when colds would start to come on. I’d put some Thieves on their feet and diffuse Peppermint through the night in their bedrooms. When I put it in the diffuser I saw an instant change in their sleep. It really clears your sinuses pretty much immediately. And since diffusing an oil is like putting the oil inside your nose and lungs it has always been really effective.
Peppermint is also a great oil for nausea. I put it on my kids when they have upset stomaches (right on their bellies – it will tingle so you might want to warn them ahead of time) and I actually ingest a drop when I have an upset stomach. It is pretty intense if you decide to do it, so just be sure you brace yourself. You’ll feel the oil in your sinuses right away so it will clear your sinuses, give you great smelling breath and every single time I’ve used it with a stomach ache it is gone within ten minutes. One evening we had plans to go somewhere and I must have eaten something bad earlier in the day…so I was feeling pretty awful. I put Di-Gize (another amazing oil for digestion and stomach issues) on my stomach twice and then tried applying Peppermint to my stomach with no luck, so decided to eat a drop of Peppermint and I was cured.
*One little side note is that one drop of Young Living Peppermint Essential Oil is equivalent to 28 cups of Peppermint Tea! Holy concentrated. .
Peppermint is great for headaches and migraines – you can apply it directly to your temples for relief.
Peppermint is a great oil to put on the back of your neck if you’re feeling really hot.
It has broken Simon and Gussy’s fevers by putting it directly on the bottoms of their feet.
It is an awesome oil to use if you’re headed to a lecture or somewhere you need to retain a lot of information.
I try and put a drop on my tongue if I really need to be focused on something.
Peppermint Oil will make a tick back right out of your skin.
You can put Peppermint Oil in a foot bath to cool your body and/or just relax and read a book.
I like to put a drop on my tongue or apply topically to the back of my neck and shoulders if I’m feeling sleepy.
Peppermint is a great oil if you’re driving long distances (to keep you alert and awake), which I just did, so I had it handy in the car.
Peppermint Oil supports the liver, respiratory system and digestive system.
Put a drop in your glass of water on a hot day!
Put a drop on your hands and inhale to make you alert, enhance smells and tastes and just rejuvenate yourself.
Oooh I almost forgot, this is also a good oil to curb your appetite.

Something else to keep in mind for summertime oil use – you don’t want your oils to get too hot, so try not to leave them in your car in the hot sun, keep them in a cool dark place if possible, they will be more effective that way.

Another thing I’ve been meaning to mention is there is an Essential Rewards program through Young Living where you can earn points based on what you order to get free product. Now in order to get points (PV) you would have to order a minimum of 50 PV per month (usually equivalent to $50) but you can change what you order each month allowing you to slowly acquire all kinds of healing oils. So if you are interested in this option, which I do personally, and love, please let me know and I’ll explain it in more detail.

Prices for oils mentioned:
Peppermint Oil $19.75 wholesale $25.99 retail
Di-Gize Oil $32.00 wholesale $42.11 retail
Thieves Oil $31.75 wholesale $41.78 retail

We will still continue our monthly discussion group. I’m shooting for a date mid-July, I’ll email it in the next couple of days after I get my ducks in a row. And the weekend of August 1st month we’ve actually got a special guest coming to talk to us,  I’d love it if you could all join us to meet Julia. She’s a wealth of information when it comes to using Young Living Oils and she’s coming to Missoula! More info will be coming soon.
